Library Working Bee

We’re working on some excellent improvements to our library service.

We’ll have a much improved online service where you can search our catalogue, see a good description of the book as well as its title and author.  You’ll also have the ability to pop a hold on the book, and then call in to pick it up.  Thanks so much to our Library Team for all their work.

Watch this space!

We’re excited to bring you a much improved library service: a catalogue that’s easier to use, and lots of interesting new books.

New to our library

The World Through My Eyes: an anthology about end-of-life

By Joan Morgan McCarthy (Donated & introduced by Mary Ellen Warren)

Joan McCarthy was a member of the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast Rationalists and Humanists from its formation. In November 2013 she ventured to Wairoa to give a talk.

The photo taken at the time paints a picture of an exceptional human being, one willing to share the truth as she knew it,
while at the same time making it a joy.

Thank you Joan.

She returned to live in Australia but visited Hawke’s Bay. She was in touch with us via email on the day she died at the End-Of-life organization Pegasos, Switzerland, August 2024.

This book offers many views about death and dying. Joan asks what are yours. The book will be available in our NZARH library, as well as in the Hawkes Bay / East Coast mini library
