Jehovah Witness Convention Protest:

Auckland 10th and 11th of January 2026 – Join us!

Jonas Skogstroll is a Goat Herder and comedian from Norway who is visiting New Zealand to protest the Jehovah Witness International Convention held at Eden Park in Auckland on 10th and 11th January 2026. Here are Jonas’s own words:

In Norway we changed the legislation so a religion must respect human rights.
#allreligionsmust
Now Jehovah Witnesses are no longer a religion.  They DO have every freedom of believing, congregating, own churches etc. But since they are no longer a religion, they do not receive government funding. I want the Norwegian legislation to be included in New Zealand legislation.  If the New Zealand government gives funding to religions that violate human rights, then they are co-responsible for this.  And that’s not ok. This is what the legislation says:
If a religious or philosophical community, or individuals acting on behalf of the community, engage in violence or coercion, make threats, violate children’s rights, break legally established anti-discrimination rules, or otherwise seriously infringe on the rights and freedoms of others, the community may be denied funding, or the funding may be reduced.
I think this is a minimal due diligence the NZ government should do before giving an organisation charitable status.

Please join us to support Jonas!

The convention is being held 10th -11th January 2026, at Eden Park, 42 Reimers Ave, Kingsland, Auckland. Join us there to protest on the 10th and 11th of January.  Eden Park is within easy walking distance from the Kingsland train station.
Jonas will bring signage, you just need to turn up!
Jonas will also be touring New Zealand as a standup comedian, with shows in Auckland, Tauranga, Wellington and Christchurch with NZ comedians while he’s here, supported by Christchurch performer, Justice of the Peace, Decult trustee and exvangelical Mark Darbyshire. If you have stand-up comedy experience and culty material that could be a good fit – or can help with booking venues – then please get in touch with them ASAP to help get this show on the road: hello@markd.nz
