Cyrus came to New Zealand as a Quota Refugee. Humanist NZ supported Cyrus and his wife Ahoo as they settled into life in Porirua, and later in Auckland. He has now written his and Ahoo’s story in a book titled Echoes of Resilience.
Cyrus has set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to fund the publication of the book:
One Man’s Journey from Tyranny to Truth
Dear friends and supporters,
My name is Cyrus, and I’ve written a memoir that I believe the world needs to read.
This is not just my life story, it is the story of millions who suffer under brutal regimes and remain unheard.
Born in Iran under one of the most repressive theocracies in modern history, I survived a system that tried to break me from birth. I was beaten, imprisoned, silenced, and forced to flee the only country I called home. From navigating corrupt borders with forged documents to spending years stranded as a refugee in Indonesia, to finally rebuilding a new life from nothing in New Zealand and Australia; I carried nothing with me except the truth and a refusal to be silent.
This book reveals the horrors of the Iranian regime, the corruption of the IRGC, and the global consequences of political Islam. It shares raw, unfiltered memories; stories of injustice, exile, betrayal, and resilience. It’s a tribute to all those who dared to resist and a warning to the world: tyranny does not stay within borders.
Why I Need Your Help
I’ve completed the manuscript and had it professionally edited. Now, I’m preparing to self-publish a limited run of 500 or more high-quality physical copies before launching digitally on Amazon.
- I’m seeking to raise $10,000 AUD, which will go towards:
- Printing costs for 5,00 paperback copies
- Professional layout and cover design
- Marketing and promotional materials
- Local distribution, postage, and events
Special Gift for Supporters
As a thank you for believing in this project:
Anyone who contributes $50 AUD or more will receive a signed copy of the book, along with a personal thank-you note, mailed directly to you once the first batch is printed if you are in Australia or New Zealand (expected within the next two months).
How You Can Make a Difference

A Promise
This memoir is not a story of victimhood; it is a story of defiance, survival, and hope. It is a voice for those who cannot speak freely and a warning for those who still can.
Thank you for standing with me.
With gratitude,
Cyrus
